Mom's Pizza Dough - it's simply the best!

I grew up making this recipe on a weekly basis with my mom and sisters. We'd have family pizza and movie night on Fridays, and right before Daddy would get home she would start this yummy and quick pizza dough. She still uses the exact same mixer to make it in! This was also a favorite amongst friends for sleepovers. It's super easy to make a bunch of individual crusts ahead of time and then let everyone pick their own toppings!

This quick-rising dough is also great for making garlic breadsticks that *could* rival Olive Garden's. There isn't anything quite like homemade dough. Just saying...

These also freeze really well. Simply prebake and let them cool completely. Wrap each crust in plastic wrap and place them flat in the freezer. Just remember to thaw them before topping and baking.

This recipe continues to be a family favorite and I hope you enjoy it as much as I still do!

Mom's 10-Minute Pizza Dough
Total prep and bake time - 20 minutes

Ingredients:

2 1/2 cups of flour - you can use whole wheat, or mix it in half with regular flour. We like this one.
1 Tbsp sugar or honey - if using honey, mix it with the warm water.
1 Tbsp instant dry yeast
1/2 tsp salt
1 Tbsp garlic powder (optional)
2 tsp Italian seasonings (optional)

1 cup of comfortably hot water
2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil

Method:
Preheat oven to 500F. Mix dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Add liquids. Knead for 5 minutes. Cover with a damp towel and let the dough rest for 5 minutes. Roll out dough for 1 large pizza or 2-3 mini pizzas. Prebake at 500F for 5 minutes.
Add all your toppings and bake at 450F for 10 minutes or until your cheese is melted.

If making breadsticks - divide dough into 8 or 10 balls, and roll each ball out into a log. Bake for 5 minutes at 500F. Brush each with melted butter and dust with garlic salt and Italian seasonings. Bake for 5-7 minutes at 450F. You can also mix grated parmesan into the dough before baking for additional flavor!

Additional tip: if you don't want your crust to get big puffy bubbles in it, poke it all over with a fork before baking.

Topping ideas:

  • Trevor's favorite - artichoke hearts, bacon, chicken, smoked mozzarella, and white sauce
  • pepperoni, olive, and sausage
  • ham + pineapple w/ cheese
  • my personal favorite - basil leaves , fresh mozzarella, and sliced tomato with homemade red wine sauce
